Private label products are a creative and profitable way for America’s businesses to extend their brand reach and to increase their profitability.

What does the term Private Label mean? Private label products are those manufactured by one company for sale under another company’s brand. Private-label goods are available in a wide range of industries from clothing, water bottles, phone accessories and more. Private label brands managed solely by a retailer for sale in a specific chain of stores are called store brands.

Private label does NOT have to be only for big companies. In fact, many of the Private Label products we create for our customers are less, often as low as 250 units. This means that even small to mid-sized comaonies looking to build their brand can economically do so.

How to start on a Private Label program.

The first thing is to look at your brand identity and the products that best represent your brand. For example, if you own a chain of fitness centers and your clientel are buying hoodies and tees with your screenprinted logo on them you are a good candidate.

Currently, the clothing you buy, even though it has your logo on it, probably comes from a big corporate manufacturer such as Gildan. Now, Gildan makes a great tee, but everyone uses the exact same T or Hoody. The problem with this is that you have NO BRAND DIFFERENTIATION.

What is Brand Differentitation.

BD is a way to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary and in the process not only make your brand look different but more importantly give your brand and T or Hoody a HIGHER perveived value.

What is a Higher Perceived Value?

Think of it this way. Armani makes a T-shirt. It is a really nice T shirt. It retails for $200. Gildan also makes a nice T-Shirt. Not as nice as Armani but still a pretty good T shirt. Gildan wholesales that T shirt as a blank for about $3. Is there really $197 in quality difference between the 2? No, of course not. The difference is called Perceived Value.

Private Label gives your brand differentiation and a higher perceived value.

When you add these 2 potent differentiators to your products you increase its desirability as the product is now more exclusively yours and you can sell it for more money than the basic T everyone has as it will have cachet.

What things on a product make it truly a Private Label T or Hoody.

Sticking with the T or Hoody as our example lets look at what we can change on a garment to make it yours exclsuively. You can have a custom logo’d zipper pull, a custom label, branded Hoody laces, custom pantone matched color fabric and custom knitted ribbing. And this is only the beginning.
